Approach

     Having returned from the Gasherbrum II, we rested up at basecamp. We noticed that the good weather we enjoyed for six consecutive days would disappear in a few hours.

     The Galician mountaineers who came with us (Álex, Fausto, Félix and Julián) decided to come back to Galicia. We were alone again. Two of them (Félix and Fausto) reached the Gasherbrum II summit, with a British expedition, two days later than we did. We knew we would miss them; that was so. In rest or wait days, the best thing to cheer you up is to know that you have company and you can spend wasted hours chattering to someone who shares your goals and anxieties, and who also speaks your language.
