Sports background
Expeditions Our expeditions are distinguished for practicing a clean climbing style, avoiding the usage of bottled oxygen, and for a constant adaptation to terrain. We usually utilize the resources offered by the mountain and we never leave inorganic waste on it.
Having initiated his mountaineering course in 1980, José Antonio Martínez Novas achieved in only five years the best individual alpinistic record in Galicia: • Worldwide record of climbs to Mt Aconcagua (5) over the same year (6959m). • Himalayas. Two-members expedition undertake the whole approach without porters and get the first climb in the world to Mt Biarchedi (6759m) having opened a route of extreme difficulty. • Mt Everest (8848 m). Expedition comprised by both brothers Martínez Novas. Jesús reached the summit without oxygen having overcome the worst storm in decades, with winds running at 120-180km/h and temperatures between -10ºC and -14ºC. During the heavy storm, 9 alpinists of international prestige were killed. Because of strong winds, our expedition missed all the equipment and warm clothes. |
